Our Leathers

Leather is Timeless

Our leathers are mainly sourced from the tanneries under The Nuti Ivo group. The tanneries in the group are operating since 1950s and renowned for its top level tannage experience.

Vegetable tanning is the oldest tanning method, it uses extracts from wood, and nuts of trees and shrubs with responsible suppliers ensuring these are from a sustainable source. It usually takes longer to tan leather using this method, but the result is a leather with distinctive aesthetic and handle that ages beautifully.

The leather is then went through a drum-dyeing process which involves immersing the skin into a massive "drum" vessel with dye and rotate, resulting in an even penetration of dye on the hide's surface. Over a period of two to three months, the tanners move the hides from drum to drum, with the solution getting progressively stronger. The tanning agents penetrate the skins and the fermentation and depositions process leaves the hides with a distinct color and appearance.

Each piece of leather has its own distinctive sweet, woody fragrance, which has become one of the renowned signature of fine leathers.

Most of our leather sourced are full-grain leather, regarded as the most priced and the highest quality leather. Full-grain leather refers to the natural uppermost surface layer of tanned cowhide, which only the hair is removed and the leather do not undergo for sanding or buffing. This maintains the leather authenticity with the minor natural blemishes. Preserving the sole nature of leather, full-grain leather is very breathable, highly durable and biodegradable.

Bridle Leather

Produced by Conceria Lloyd from Italy, the Bridle POLO leather is made from premium French raw materials with the traditional Italian tanning process.

The leather itself was being tanned using plant materials extracted from tree bark and various natural ingredients, then finishing by adding layers and layers of waxes and tallows on top of the leather surface after its being applied with dye and pigment by hand. The white waxes on the surface can be rubbed off into the leather itself which gives a beautiful sheen as a result. On the other hand, the wax itself also serve as a protecting coat for the leather against rain and water, and the wax would slowly be absorbed to the leather over time.

Traditionally, bridle leather was being used as saddle products. The use of a horse bridle usually lasted more than a decade which makes it necessary to withstand harsh weather and temperature. Not only the leather has to be comfortable for the horse’s skin but also requires durability for people to handle under high speed, thus this gave the bridle leather a renowned reputation for being the most enduring and luxurious leather.
